The Development of OTO Akustiktechnik
1988 – Foundation and Entry into Technical Acoustics
A trading company was established to supply acoustic materials and industrial noise-control solutions. From the very beginning, acoustic products from a Swedish manufacturer were distributed for industrial applications throughout the German-speaking market.
One of the company’s early projects involved the production of coated acoustic components for a BMW twelve-cylinder engine. The name O.T.O. originated from the company’s work in surface technology in Oberhausen at the time.
1992 – Establishment of OTO Akustiktechnik GmbH
OTO Akustiktechnik GmbH was established and production was expanded to serve the automotive industry. Products manufactured during this period included loudspeaker gaskets for companies such as Blaupunkt.
1994 – Expansion of Warehousing and Production
The company moved into a warehouse and production facility of approximately 600 square metres in Oberhausen.
1999 – Further Expansion of the Oberhausen Site
As additional space was required, the company moved into a facility of approximately 2,000 square metres with larger warehousing and production areas. A quality management system was introduced at the same time.
2001 – Acoustic Project at Autostadt Wolfsburg
For the Volkswagen Pavilion at Autostadt Wolfsburg, OTO Akustiktechnik supplied materials and custom-cut parts for the acoustic optimisation of a 360-degree spherical cinema.
The specified sound performance requirements were exceeded through the use of different configurations of OTO-Akustikblech.
2004 – Strategic Reorientation of the Company
The gradual withdrawal from conventional automotive series supply enabled the company to focus more strongly on industrial acoustic solutions and new fields of application.
2007 – Increased Focus on the Core Business
The company’s activities became increasingly focused on reducing structure-borne sound and component vibrations, with OTO-Akustikblech playing a central role.
This specialisation enabled the company to respond even more flexibly to individual customer requirements, different order quantities and complex component geometries.

Today, OTO Akustiktechnik combines several decades of experience with a flexible and practical approach. Our customers receive not only acoustic materials, but also support in selecting a suitable solution for their specific design or application.
As the official sales partner for Antiphon AB in Germany, we offer proven acoustic materials from our Swedish partner alongside our own solutions.
Our range extends from individual sandwich sheets and panel materials to custom-cut parts, die-cut components and recurring series deliveries.
