LD 13 and LD 17 Damping Pads for Structure-Borne Sound Damping
Self-Adhesive Damping Materials for Vibration-Prone Components
The self-adhesive antiphon® LD 13 and LD 17 damping pads are applied directly to vibration-prone components. They reduce vibration decay and panel drumming in structures made from sheet metal, plastic and suitable wood-based materials.
The paintable surface is also suitable for applications in which the material is subsequently painted or exposed to an appropriate paint-baking process.
Typical Applications
- machine guards and protective covers
- machine tools and production machinery
- conveying systems and chutes
- ventilation and air-conditioning components
- lift cabins
- garage doors and industrial doors
- facade elements and window sills
- bathtubs, shower trays and sinks
- domestic appliances and technical housings
Properties
- self-adhesive backing
- reduces component vibrations and panel-drumming noise
- suitable for sheet-metal, plastic and appropriate wood-based structures
- paintable surface for further technical processing
- suitable for temperatures up to approximately 180 °C for brief periods
- available as full-size sheets, custom-cut parts or die-cut parts
Available Versions
antiphon® LD 13
LD 13 is the thinner version for applications where installation space is limited or less additional weight is required.
Material thickness: 1.7 mm
Continuous temperature range: –30 °C to +120 °C
Full sheet size: approx. 1,000 × 1,020 mm
Further processing: suitable for temperatures up to approximately 180 °C for brief periods, for example during paint baking
antiphon® LD 17
LD 17 is the thicker version and is suitable for applications where a greater material thickness is technically possible or required.
Material thickness: 2.6 mm
Continuous temperature range: –30 °C to +120 °C
Full sheet size: approx. 1,000 × 1,020 mm
Further processing: suitable for temperatures up to approximately 180 °C for brief periods, for example during paint baking
Custom-Cut and Die-Cut Parts
OTO Akustiktechnik supplies LD 13 and LD 17 not only as full-size sheets. On request, we also manufacture custom-cut and die-cut parts according to drawings, samples or specified dimensions.
The following information is particularly helpful when requesting a quotation:
- required version: LD 13 or LD 17
- drawing, sketch or sample component
- dimensions and component geometry
- required quantity
- application and temperature conditions
- planned painting or further processing

Processing Instructions
For reliable adhesion, the component surface must be clean, dry and free from oil, grease, dust and other residues.
- clean and dry the substrate thoroughly
- process the material and component at room temperature where possible
- position the damping pad evenly and avoid trapped air
- press the material down over its entire surface using sufficient pressure
- pay particular attention to edges, corners and curved areas
- observe the temperature and processing instructions in the data sheet

Which Version Is Suitable for Your Application?
The choice between LD 13 and LD 17 depends on factors including the component material, existing material thickness, component geometry, available installation space and the vibrations involved.
Send us a brief description of your application together with a drawing or photograph where possible. We will assist you in selecting the appropriate material and prepare a quotation for full-size sheets, custom-cut parts or die-cut parts.
