OTO-Akustikblech for Effective Structure-Borne Sound Damping
Sound-Damping Sandwich Sheets for Machinery, Industrial Equipment and Vehicles
Conventional sheet-metal components can be excited mechanically, causing them to vibrate, resonate and produce panel-drumming noise. OTO-Akustikblech reduces these component vibrations directly at their source and thereby limits the radiation of unwanted sound.
The sandwich sheet consists of two metal face sheets with a viscoelastic damping layer between them. When the face sheets are deformed relative to one another during bending vibration, the constrained interlayer dissipates part of the vibration energy.
The result: The component stops vibrating more quickly and radiates less unwanted sound.
Your Benefits with OTO-Akustikblech
- structure-borne sound damping directly within the component
- reduced vibration decay and panel drumming
- different materials, thicknesses and surface finishes
- supply from as little as a single sandwich sheet
- custom-cut parts and components manufactured to customer specifications
- suitable for both new designs and existing applications
- personal advice on material selection
Typical Applications
- machine guards and protective covers
- enclosures and noise-control cabins
- chutes, hoppers and conveying systems
- vibratory conveyors and palletising systems
- ventilation and air-conditioning components
- compressors, generators and power units
- components for road and rail vehicles
- shipbuilding and special-purpose structures
Available Sheet Formats and Versions
Depending on the material, thickness and configuration, OTO-Akustikblech is available in sheet formats including:
- 2,000 × 1,000 mm
- 2,500 × 1,250 mm
- 3,000 × 1,500 mm
- total thicknesses from approximately 0.85 to 6.1 mm
- versions made from different metallic materials
- stainless-steel versions and various surface finishes
- special versions subject to technical assessment
- individual sheets, small quantities and recurring series requirements
The most technically and economically suitable version depends on the construction, component geometry, required rigidity and environmental conditions.
Pricing depends on the material, format, thickness, configuration, processing and required quantity. We therefore prepare an individual quotation tailored to your enquiry.
OTO-Akustikblech and antiphon® MPM™
OTO-Akustikblech is the main product in our range of sound-damping sandwich sheets. In addition, as the German sales partner of Antiphon AB, we offer the antiphon® MPM™ sandwich sheet.
Depending on the application, required construction, material and available version, we will assess together with you which solution is suitable for the respective component.
Fabrication and Further Processing
Depending on their construction and configuration, sound-damping sandwich sheets can be further processed into a wide range of industrial components. The particular properties of the multilayer material should already be taken into account during the design stage.
Available supply and processing options include:
- supply of complete sandwich sheets
- rectangular and customer-specific cut parts
- customer-specific components manufactured according to drawings
- special formats subject to technical and economic assessment
- recurring deliveries for series applications
Please let us know what further processing of the material is planned at your facility. This enables us to take the intended fabrication method into account when selecting the appropriate version.
